It is of course amazing that global citizens take interest in defending our oceans and take onboard some of our suggestions on how to do so. However, we understand that it is difficult to stay committed to your environmental pledges over a longer period of time.

We believe that one of the most important elements on staying committed is accountability and a sense of community. Consequently Marine Matters has designed a points based system to create an enjoyable and competitive way to foster continued engagement to your pledges.

In the future we plan to add a community points system which will provide specific initiatives for people in a certain area. This makes it clear that there is specific change happening in an area and builds a sense of belonging that people's actions matter and are part of something bigger, potentially reducing feelings of eco-anxiety.

One of the key areas where we plan to increase engagement is in school and universities as these areas are fundamental to plant the seeds for people who drive the necessary change for tomorrow.
